After a Collision

The Pain Usually
Arrives Later.

Adrenaline is very good at hiding injury. Most people walk away from a collision feeling shaken but basically fine, decline the ambulance, and go home. Two or three days later they cannot turn their head to reverse the car. That delay is normal and it is not a sign the injury is minor.

Feeling fine at the scene is not the same as being uninjured. It usually means the adrenaline has not worn off yet.

A crash puts force through the neck and spine in a way nothing in ordinary life does. We examine for what collisions actually cause, treat what we find, and document it properly from the first visit. Dr. Morris has been doing this in the Highlands since 1997.

Care Built Around Your Injury

No Two Collisions Are the Same.

A rear end impact at a light does different damage than a side impact at an intersection. Direction of force, headrest position, whether you saw it coming and where you felt it first all change what we look for. Your examination is specific to your crash, and the treatment plan follows the findings rather than a standard schedule. If you improve faster than expected you come in less, and we will tell you when you no longer need to come at all.

How It Works

What to Expect After an Accident

Your first visit is an examination, not an adjustment on the way out the door. Nothing is treated before we know what was injured.

  1. Call Us

Tell us the date of the accident when you call so we can prioritize the appointment. Bring your auto insurance information, the police report if you have it, and your attorney’s details if you are represented.

  2. Coverage Verified

We confirm how your care will be paid for before you arrive, so your first conversation here is about your injury rather than paperwork.

  3. Examination and Plan

History of the collision, range of motion, orthopedic and neurological testing, and posture. Findings are measured and written down. You leave knowing what is injured and what the plan is.

  4. Treatment and Records

Hands on care adjusted as you progress, with documentation kept to the standard an insurance claim requires.

What We Treat

Injuries We See
After a Crash

Collision injuries behave differently from everyday aches, which is why they are so often dismissed early and why they need examining rather than waiting out.

  • Whiplash & Neck InjuryThe most common collision injury and the most frequently brushed off. Stiffness, limited rotation, and headaches starting at the base of the skull.
  • Back & Spine InjuryFrom muscle strain through to disc involvement, including pain that travels into the hip or down one leg.
  • Headaches & DizzinessHeadaches that began after the crash and did not exist before it, often originating in the neck rather than the head.
  • Numbness & TinglingPins and needles into an arm or hand. This usually points to nerve involvement and should be examined rather than waited out.

Paying for Care

In Kentucky, Your Treatment Is Usually Already Covered.

Kentucky is a no-fault state. Every standard Kentucky auto policy includes Personal Injury Protection, and it pays up to $10,000 per person for medical treatment, lost income and replacement services after a collision.

The part people do not realize: PIP pays regardless of who caused the crash. You do not have to wait for the other driver’s insurer to accept responsibility, which can take months. Your own policy covers your treatment starting now.

We bill your PIP directly. For most accident patients that means no out of pocket cost for their care.

  • $10,000 in coverageStandard on Kentucky auto policies, for medical care, lost income and replacement services.
  • Paid regardless of faultYou do not wait for the other driver’s insurer to decide anything.
  • Billed directlyWe handle the paperwork with your insurer so you can concentrate on recovering.

This is general information and not legal or insurance advice. For your specific claim, speak with your insurer or an attorney.

FAQ’s

Auto Accident Injury FAQs

How soon after an accident should I be seen?

As soon as you can. Symptoms often appear two to three days later, and being examined early establishes what was injured and when. Insurance adjusters do look at the gap between the crash date and the first medical visit, and a long gap gets used to argue that you were not really hurt.

I feel fine. Do I still need to come in?

It is worth it. Adrenaline masks injury at the scene and soft tissue injuries frequently take days to become symptomatic. An examination either finds something or gives you a documented baseline, and both are useful.

Will this cost me anything?

For most accident patients, no. Kentucky auto policies include Personal Injury Protection that pays up to $10,000 for treatment regardless of who caused the crash, and we bill it directly. We will confirm your specific coverage before treatment begins.

What if the accident was not my fault?

It does not change how your care is paid for. Kentucky PIP pays from your own policy regardless of fault, which is the point of a no-fault system. You do not wait for the other driver’s insurer.

Do I need an attorney?

That decision is yours and we do not make it for you. Plenty of accident claims resolve without one. We work alongside attorneys regularly and provide records directly to their offices, so the treatment is the same either way.
